OK so this is the question that the Lord posed to me about a month ago when I started looking for a new job. About 10 years ago I was on a mission for God to marry technology with the Church. I had a vision of Church's streaming services to missionaries in 3rd World Countries, live chatting with your Pastor, and congregations using the Web Sites not only for informal purposes, which was the buzz at that time, but to actually conduct Church business.
No God doesn't want Social Media to replace face to face fellowship but to enhance it. So fast forward to me looking for my next role. God showed me my vain pursuit of wanting a position just for the title and the prestige. Yes, the Pride of Life was dominating me. This was a hidden sin that the Lord revealed through the course of my job search. God simply said to me, Nicole you feel overlooked, unappreciated, and people doubt you can do anything non-technical. So you react by pursuing a role that has all the outer acceptance for which you think you lack.
Once I repented and submitted my will for God's Will, He started to show me the original vision from 10 years ago again - YES I wrote the vision down 10years ago and I still have it. He told me you got off course because of FEAR!!!!! You heard from others that this area was experiencing famine and this other brand was a sure thing. So you turned your back on MY WILL to your VAIN PURSUITS!!!! Ooooooo MY!!!! That is a hard but good pill to swallow. Fear will drive you to make decisions based on emotions, which 9 times out of 10 are out of the Will of God.
Suffice it to say, I am BACK in His WILL. I start a new role effective July 1 where it may seem like a step back to some but I promise you it is not. God has a greater plan than me just earning a paycheck. I am EXCITED to be able to use my MS in eCommmerce and Advance Technology, to be able to be able to visit my family more since my territory is Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, VA, PA, and NC) without having to move back...Raleigh is my home at this point in time...nope I won't get it twisted!!!
So I pray that you break out of the mold of what society and the sub-culture (you will get that reference if you are reading the book The Irresistible Church: 12 Traits of a Church that Heaven Applauds by Wayne Cordeiro) says and be in HOTTTTT pursuit of God's Will.
You know I had to put the Word on it:
Psalm 127:1a: A Song of Ascents, of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;
Proverbs 12:11: He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

Don't try to manipulate Him with ultimatums....Can I tell you He is not like our earthly parents.....He will not be moved by our crying fits, our "if you do this then I will do this" promises, nor by our hail mary prayers we throw up like we are Mike Vick (Yes I have a thanggggg for Mike Vic...don't judge me LOL).

Echoes of Mercy
In less than two weeks, I will turn 38. January 15, 1974 God brought me into this world.
I wanted to share this testimony of how God is merciful. When I was 15 I tried to commit suicide. This is something that is not talked about in my family. I know they probably thought I was crazy to do this. In fact, suicide is probably not talked about in most families. This is one of those taboo subjects.
My attempt to commit suicide was a selfish act. I had just moved to a strange place - Dale City, VA - from Alexandria, VA (all that I had known from a kid until then). I felt like my parents we uprooting me to give me a better life. We moved from an apartment on Duke street to a three bedroom house out in the country (OK at that time Dale City was majority white and was not as built up as it is now). Many years later I learned from my friend, Shanita Brown, it is called having a problem with transitioning (she is one her way to becoming Dr. Brown at NC State).
When I committed this act, I had no clue who God was. I didn't grow up in a Godly household. I didn't received Christ as my Lord and Savior until I was 24. All I know is I wanted things to stay the same and life sucked so I wanted to "get my parents back" by killing myself.
So from the time of 15 until 24 all I know is that God's Echoes of Mercy were calling me into a relationship with Him. I am grateful for every year after 15 because He truly did add years to my life. My life is a gift from God and I vow to carry out the work He has given me. I stand on His Word: Philippians 1:6: For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. We truly do overcome him (the enemy) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
For anyone who is considering suicide I beseech (urgently and anxiously beg and plead) that you seek help IMMEDIATELY!!! God loves you and He wants a relationship with you!!! He has a good plan for your life!!! His echoes of mercy are being extended to YOU!!! Won't you received them!!!!!

"BUILDING FELLOWSHIP"
"BUILDING FELLOWSHIP"
(PSALM 133:1 NIV)
HOW GOOD AND PLEASANT IT IS WHEN BROTHERS LIVE TOGETHER IN UNITY!
Fellowship with other believers should be an integral part of your everyday life. Your association with fellow Christians should be uplifting, enlightening, encouraging, and consistent.
Are you an active member of your own fellowship? Are you a builder of bridges inside the four walls of your church and outside it? Do you contribute to God's glory by contributing your time and your talents to a close-knit band of believers? Hopefully so. The fellowship of believers is intended to be a powerful tool for spreading God's Good News and uplifting His children. And God intends for you to be a fully contributing member of that fellowship. Your intentions should be the same.

One cannot arrive at and maintain individual conviction of faith in isolation from the already existing community of faith.

Choosing Wisely
This is good Godly counsel....embrace it and apply!! Thanks Tamika Lawrence for sharing this with me so I can share it with others :)
"CHOOSING WISELY"
(JAMES 3:17 NKJV)
BUT THE WISDOM THAT IS FROM ABOVE IS FIRST PURE, THEN PEACEABLE, GENTLE, WILLING TO YIELD, FULL OF MERCY AND GOOD FRUITS, WITHOUT PARTIALITY AND WITHOUT HYPOCRISY.
Because we are creatures of free will, we make choices-lots of them. When we make choices that are pleasing to our Heavenly Father, we are blessed. When we make choices that cause us to walk in the footsteps of God's Son, we enjoy the abundance that Christ has promised to those who follow Him. But when we make choices that are displeasing to God, we sow seeds that have the potential to bring forth a bitter harvest.

Today, as you encounter the challenges of everyday living, you will make hundreds of choices. Choose wisely. Make your thoughts and your actions pleasing to God. And remember: every choice that is displeasing to Him is the wrong choice-no exceptions.

"THE FUTILITY OF BLAMING OTHERS"
This is good Godly counsel....embrace it and apply!! Thanks Tamika Lawrence for sharing this with me so I can share it with others :)
"THE FUTILITY OF BLAMING OTHERS"
(JOHN 9:1-3 MSG)
WALKING DOWN THE STREET, JESUS SAW A MAN BLIND FROM BIRTH. HIS DISCIPLES ASKED, "RABBI, WHO SINNED: THIS MAN OR HIS PARENTS, CAUSING HIM TO BE BORN BLIND?" JESUS SAID, "YOU'RE ASKING THE WRONG QUESTION. YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO BLAME. THERE IS NO SUCH CAUSE-EFFECT HERE. LOOK INSTEAD FOR WHAT GOD CAN DO."
To blame others for our own problems is the height of futility. Yet blaming others is a favorite human pastime. Why? Because blaming is much easier than fixing, and criticizing others is so much easier than improving ourselves. So, instead of solving our problems legitimately (by doing the work required to solve them) we are inclined to fret, to blame, and to criticize, while doing precious little else. When we do, our problems, quite predictably, remain unsolved.

People's own foolishness ruins their lives, but in their minds they blame the Lord.

The biggest loser
Wow I woke up one day and noticed I had 10 extra pounds on me. OK so it seems that way. It seems like after I turned 35 two years ago, YES I am 37!!!, I started gaining weight. I know that took my metabolism for granted. I no longer can eat whatever I want and not exercise. It was hard at first for me accept this weight gain because I have, excuse me, had been so thin for years. People please note just because you are thin does not mean you are healthy. So now I am on this heath journey - FOR REAL!!!!!
One of the hardest things about this journey is maintaining when I am on the road. Working from home I can just jump on my treadmill at any time of the day. Not so when on the road. I have to make it exercise a priority and really PRESSSSSSSSSS to do it after work. I just started a running and walk combination. I enjoy it but I gotta remember not to be too zealous in the beginning and then fall off by becoming inconsistent. I also have to make sure I make wise food choices and make sure I not skip meals. It is really easy for me to skip dinner or look for a fast food place after an exhausting day with a customer.
I know that the exercise and eating right is paying off because a few months ago my doctor took me off of blood pressure medicine.
I have to remember that the weight did not come over night so I have to be consistent, deliberate and determined to a live a healthy lifestyle!!!!
Please post any tips you have that contribute to living a healthy lifestyle.

Missing you!
Well today I woke up with a new year in view. I started recalling the times we shared and I cried because I was missing you.
You have been there for the past 36 years of my life. Shaping and molding me. Guiding and consoling me.
When I look in the mirror I can't help but to be reminded of you. Many of my features and mannerism are a reflection of you. My smile and especially the Hargrove nose.
Being around you was liking being in Cheers because everyone knew your name. You were just cool like that. Old school swagger these youngsters don't know nothing about that you would say. O I think about your sayings and it just brightens my day.
O sometimes I think I can't believe your gone we had so much more do and see. But God knew what was best and I can't complain because I know you living that eternal life because you called on Jesus' name.
So once again yep another new year in view, Wow Daddy I find myself missing you!!!!
Forever in my heart!!! I miss you!!!! Lov ya! Nik

2011 MANIFEST!!!!
Hey all! Today I just want to focus on the word for 2011: MANIFEST!
Websters defines manifest as readily perceived by the senses and especially by the sense of sight and easily understood or recognized by the mind. Some synonyms include apparent, crystal clear, decided, transparent, and unmistakable.
This coming year I believe the LORD wants to MANIFEST in our lives! I believe He wants to MANIFEST the following:
1. Himself. He wants us to know Him. He is not a mystery, although sometimes His ways are. He has revealed Himself to us in His Word.
2. His Commandments. He does not expect us to become saved and still live a lifestyle that does not reflect Him. We must open the Word of God (the Bible) and learn what he requires of us. YES, God does have conditions on some of His promises.
For these first points we can look to my favorite scripture Matthew 6:33.
3. His Promises. God promises us not only life but abundant life in John 10:10. In Numbers 23:19, it tells us that God is NOT a lier. He means what He says!! 2 Corinthians 1:20 tell us that in Him His promises are yes and we confirm with AMEN by His Glory being through us.
Remember manifest is not name it and poof God makes it happen. No God is in control and not us. Rest assured that God is doing His part the question becomes are we doing ours?
2011 the year of Manifest!!! To God be ALL the Glory! Cole

Don't fulfill God given needs with worldly means aka Destructive Behaviors
I believe that God has given us legitimate needs. These needs consist of various things such as love. God has really been showing me things to guard against. Right after my Daddy died in July, God warned me not to fulfill my needs with worldly means aka destructive behaviors. In the past I would fulfill my need for love with men, liquor, food and shopping. Destructive behaviors are patterns that stem from fleshly ways of getting what we want. It takes the Word of God to renew our minds of these old behaviors.
God gave me the following steps to discern how my needs are being met. I pray they bless ya!
God gave me the following steps to discern how my needs are being met. I pray they bless ya!
1. Ask yourself, what need is this person, place or thing meeting in my life?
2. How is the need (name the need) currently being met by this person, place or thing?
3. Does the way this need (name the need) is being met please God?
4. Decide if I want to meet the need (name the need) my way or God's way.
5a. If I choose to meet the need (name the need) my way, acknowledge to the Lord, Yes I know I am out of Your Will but I want what I want (name the need) met by (name, person, or thing) by (name how they are meeting the need)
5b. If you choose to meet the need (name the need) God's way, acknowledge to the Lord you have a need (name the need) and if you have been using ungodly means to fulfill it (REPENT) and ask Him to show you how to meet the need (name the need) in God's way.
Meeting our needs with worldly means will never ever work because they are flesh driven. The flesh is insatiable. Please take time to discern what means are used to satisfy your needs.

The toilet seat and the blow torch
I have been trying to change the toilet seat in my bedroom bathroom on and off for the last month and half. OK so you are probably thinking what took so long. Well once I stripped the plastic screws I would try various things to no avail get frustrated and leave it alone.
So last week I was determined to get this seat off. God gave me the idea of using a blow torch. It was a mini blow torch so forgone were the mask and fire gloves. I am happy to report that the toilet seat has been changed.
The only side effect was me burning my finger on a piece of burning plastic. While I was using the blow torch I thought to myself I wonder how the news report would read if I had blown the house up or caught on fire. Yes, I know you are giggling just like I did as I made up crazy headlines details at 6pm.
The moral of the story is adapt and continue to be determined!

I am a conductor!
Today as a sat in this leadership training tears actually came to my eyes when I heard the speaker say, you have to be a generalist with a specialty - be a conductor.
OK so you may think that tears are extreme but I felt a since of relief and fear. Relief that there has been validation to what I believe God has already been telling and showing me and fear because having to let go of the familiar in order to embrace the unfamiliar.
Webster defines a conductor as the following:
: one that conducts: as a : guide b : a collector of fares in a public conveyance c : the leader of a musical ensemble d (1) : a material or object that permits anelectric
current to flow easily — compare insulator, semiconductor (2) : a material capable of transmitting another form of energy (as heat or sound)
Two ideas resonate with me when I read this definition. The fact that as a conductor I am a guider and a vessel that is used to transmit something. God uses us as His vessels (conductors) to conduct (a) others into a relationship with Him through sharing the Gospel.
So today is the day that I embrace the fact that I am a conductor!!!!

Confidence....in God!!!
As I sat on a leadership con call this morning, I kept wondering to myself who in the world thinks I am a leader? OK so once again my confidence was in question...OR was it?
See my struggle with confidence only becomes that when I am trying to be confident in my own skills and not in God. I thank God for showing me that this is the case.
Think about it for a moment. Our abilities are not enough to complete our God given purpose. If they were enough then we would not need God. Adam and Eve thought their abilities were enough and look at the impact that choice made.
God has chosen us to perform tasks for His glory. Why do we seem to think that He would leave us to our own abilities and devices to accomplish those tasks?
We quote scripture and even pray for His advice but then we don't wait to hear from Him. Even if we wait and hear His advice, we don't take it because we don't like what He says. We take matters into my own hands and then we become confounded (ahhhh somebody went to ToE last night LOL) when it does not turn out the way we expected. We really did not want his advice, we wanted a Yes man. We just wanted someone to agree with us. We wanted God's blessing to stay out of His will.
I chose to put my confidence in God. I trust God and I know His abilities. He does not have a plan to make us fail nor to embarrass us. He has a good plan for our lives.
By the time the call ended I had even more confidence in God. Now it is up to me to execute His plan, His way. After all, His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts - THANK GOD for that!!!!
So I leave you with one question - What is the source of your confidence?
Proverbs 25:19 Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot Is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble.
See my struggle with confidence only becomes that when I am trying to be confident in my own skills and not in God. I thank God for showing me that this is the case.

The fizzle and sabotage' factors
OK so I have been dealing with what I call the fizzle and sabotage' factors.
The fizzle factor is when I get all excited about something/someone and then after like 2 or 3 weeks of it, the thrill is gone. If I get bored with or the something/someone requires too much work, I am quick to drop it!!
The sabotage' factor is when I am doing well with something, people start acknowledging it, and recommend me to the masses, I automatically stop doing well. I become slack because now I feel like people are putting responsibility on me and now I MUST deliver. When a sister is pressured in this fashion, I just revert back to laziness.
What God is showing me is all of it is based on FEAR!!! The fizzle and sabotage' factor do not rule me. Being more than a conqueror means I master my weaknesses.
I am not going to be controlled by these two bammas - Fizzle and sabotage'. The ONLY way to overcome any weakness is to repent, submit and obey!!!!
God continues to encourage me. He keeps telling me not to grow weary in my well doing because I will reap if I FAINT not!!!! Galatians 6:9
The Greek word for faint mean to loose, unloose, to set free, to exhaust, to relax one's strength, to be deprived of strength through exhaustion, to be tired out, and to feel or show extreme discouragement, depression or dejection.
Remember - FAINT NOT!!!!!!

Singing On the road again....
Well I am writing this blog while chilling in my 2nd home - RDU International Airport. I never thought when I joined my corporation 13 years ago I would be doing all this traveling.
As a young 23 year old graduate I thought I owned the world and I could conqueror anything. Now as a 36 year old seasoned professional, I still have those same thoughts but I just accomplish them by methods that will please the Lord.
Sometimes we sit on the sidelines of life and view what others are doing thinking in the back of our head YEAH I could, should, and would do that BUT!!!! I don't want to be one of those people. I have learned to be one of the people to think and say do I CAN, WILL, and DO in spite of.
Yes, we all have some aspect of our lives that we could use as excuses to keep us in the former category of people, BUT don't let that stop you from being all that God called you to be.
Being on the road for work could be used as my excuse to complain about life but I believe I would probably not be as people-oriented if I did not have the experiences I have had. Being on the road allows me to understand more about me, increase my network and MOST importantly be the light in this world.
So YES I am singing on the road again and I am glad about it!!!

Not so chefy today!!!
OK so I tried to make two recipes today - Red Cabbage and Apples and chicken loaf. OK I can understand why the chicken loaf sucked, it is because I did not put enough seasonings in that joint. But I thought the Red Cabbage tasted good but I just did not want to eat it for some reason. I think I got all heath conscious (it had half a stick of butter in it) and what not (dang who say what not anymore LOL).
I was on a roll last week. Man you win some you lose some but I am not going to stop trying. No this is not the black version of Julie and Julia, which btw was a good movie. I am trying to a mass some recipes that I can use so I don't eat the same thing over and over. OK I don't see the problem eating spaghetti all the time. I LOVE spaghetti! Shanita I think I am going to cook your recipe on Monday.
I am in the process of getting an island and a pot rack put into my kitchen. It is going to be quite nice. It will be of dual function - a work area and a table. I found the idea online. My girl, Kenya, is going to help me pick out tile for the top of the island and for my backsplash. Yeah, I am making some home improvements over here this year. TBH I waited so long to put it in because I did not think I would be here that long....ahhh look at me it's going on three years now....I still cannot believe it!!! But I absolutely love it down here. I don't regret leaving. Tip: Don't stay where God has told you to leave, you become out of the will of God and dissatisfied!!!
I think I need to buy a few new pots and pans and some small kitchen appliances. I have my eye on this kitchen aid mixer but I don't think I want to pay $400+ for an electric mixer. Especially since I am a fake me out chef. I am already upset that I have burned 2 of my All clad pans.
So if you have some recipes point me to them. Chef BoyRNikki is signing off! Night night and good eating!!!

The first time I heard you pray ode to my Daddy
Hey fam! I thank God for giving me various ways to express myself. Poetry is one of those ways. I like to think of my poems as modern day psalms. Words are so beautiful!!!!
So as I was about to go to sleep, I was listening to Lexi's He's Here Right Now (OK so I am starting to say right now with a Southern accent and it makes me giggle...I am so goofy :>..I digress :>) and God dropped this poem in my Spirit.
It is about the first time I EVER heard my Daddy pray. Yes, that was THREE days ago, March 31, 2009. I called and he was about to eat lunch. He said excuse me Nik (that is what my parents call me...giggle...giggle) I need to bless my food. No it was not one of those good food good meat let's eat prayers. I heard his heart and I just cried. I heard how he and God have a relationship.
See ever since my father had a stroke last year, he has been in and out of the hospital and in a nursing home. I always felt I needed to be home to protect him. I wanted to be his God. But God confirmed what He already told me...I got this I am with him. Focus on what I told you to do and I will take care of your life.
I pray you enjoy and in the words of my PRAYING Daddy...let go and let God!!!!!
First time I heard you pray
The first time I heard you pray it was on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 to give thanks for your food. It blessed my heart yes indeed. I continue to see how God is meeting every need.
Because I knew the conversion was true and I thank God for his faithfulness in saving you.
Tears just streamed down my face as I thought about God’s amazing grace.
In the past you would have just thanked yourself, yes you were that bold to declare yourself God. Humbling circumstances has determined you were a fraud.
But I cannot help but remember that day when I cried out to God. I stood in the gap for eight years holding on to the promise of God.
On June 29,2007 the manifestation came the first time I formally preached. Only God knew through me it was your heart He would reach.
For two years we have shared this heavenly bond. As I look back I would have it no other way. All the memories that were triggered the first time I heard you pray!!!
I love you Daddy! Nikki

My Bahama cruise

Hey fam!
Well I just got back from my first cruise. I tell you I had an AWESOME time!!!! I am looking forward to cruising again in the near future.
Well I just got back from my first cruise. I tell you I had an AWESOME time!!!! I am looking forward to cruising again in the near future.
When going on a cruise it is important to make sure you go with the right people because you spend more time socializing (other than eating LOL). The ladies I went with were such a blessing to me. We really enjoyed each other's company. Oh the fellowship on the way down was AWESOME!!!! I just thank and praise God for bringing these women of God into my life. Each of us have own style and personalities but yet we have a common thread - Jesus Christ.
Alison is a hoot!!! She had me laughing so hard I started wheezing...ya know ya girl got asthma LOL I almost had to get my inhaler out. She has such a sweet spirit. Everyone was like where is the ring leader - Alison. Roe is always ready for the camera. She will strike a pose on you no matter what!!!! Always be ye ready is her motto LOL Sonya was little firecracker (man down and get ya girl). She was just ready at all times. She would just pop and say what's up what's going on LOL Pam was so bubbly. Keep smiling girl!!!!! Well you know me ya girl was just chilling in the background .and eating (ya know your girl likes to get her eat on)...if you see five heart beats you will get that one LOL. I just liked to laugh myself sick....I wanted to cry at times because of how blessed my life is. See we often thought our lives should be one way but God makes it something different. I am content with the something different....OK why I gotta preach/teach in this blog LOL Stir up the gifts!!!!!
It was not as hot as I wanted it to be because you know a sista likes to get her tan on. But no worries we had other things to keep us occupied. I did much resting and eating...eating...eating...eating Dang every time I turned around there was food. I thought I was going shout when I saw turkey sausage on the menu. You know your girl does not eat red meat... OK so you know they got me with the free sushi samples. They were on point but when we went to the restaurant it was not good.
The ship rocked so much that last two nights that I did not have good sleep but it was all good because I had me a nap during the day. There was this weird guy on the ship. We called him a robot. We never saw him eat and he walked like he was FBI or CIA. He was stealth for real. You would look up and be like oh my there he is. Seemed like he just showed up out of no where.
It was cool to meet so many different people from other places. We just really enjoyed ourselves and I believe we touched people's lives with the love of God while on that ship.
OK we must of been too rowdy @ one of the shows because a couple had to move from us. Look you know ya' girl was getting her singing on.....I probably would have move too if I heard me singing LOL
Ahh the memories!!! God is so good to allow me to add more memories to my life. I have nothing to complain about. Fam, life is good even when don't think we have the best circumstances. Stop thinking about what you don't have and love those around you. I have resolved to be found content in whatever state I am found!!!!
OK so God once again was protecting us from dangers unseen. We stopped at the South of the Boarder to gas up and stretch, we heard a tornado was going to touch down in Cumberland County. How about we just missed the tornado. As we were riding by we could see all the damage. We just thanking and praising God!!! God is so good!!!! I thank and praise him for getting us back safely to Raleigh.
OK so as you look through our pics http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=235059&id=766480170&l=a397d2945e and http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=235075&id=766480170&l=4a5f09213e I hope you can feel the love and fun. I can't give too many details because we said what goes on on the ship stays on the ship!!!!
Make some memories today!!!
